PITTSFIELD — George S. Wislocki’s legacy is everywhere you look in the Berkshires—the things you can see, and some things you don’t and never will see.

It includes the breathtaking view from Olivia’s Overlook on Lenox Mountain Road, the reflection of trees in Steadman Pond in Monterey, and miles of hiking trails across the county.

But it’s also the lack of a massive landfill in Hinsdale, the absence of hundreds of housing units scaling Greylock Glen in Adams, and a limited access highway through West Pittsfield that never came to pass—all proposals Wislocki successfully fought.
