This land, and all of the present-day Berkshires, are the ancestral homeland of the Mohican people, who were forcibly displaced to Wisconsin by European colonization. These lands continue to be of great significance to the Stockbridge-Munsee Mohican Nation today. To learn more, visit mohican.com.

      Located on Main Road in Tyringham, just past the Lee town line. There is no parking and access to the property is very difficult to describe. Call the BNRC office for directions.

      Donated by the Alsop family, this 97-acre forest sits atop the ridge east of the Hop Brook Valley. The Alsops stipulated that the property would be maintained in its natural state. In another 50 years, look for a forest that is developing old-growth characteristics: occasional old trees mixed amongst patches of their younger progeny, uneven terrain as old trees tip over, and an uneven tree canopy.
